SCAYD CAREER CENTER at Rancho Cotate High School:

Youth Employment & Career Services are provided through our drop-in Career Center located in room R-4 C at Rancho Cotate High School on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the lunch period and after school from 3-4. Students can also meet with Youth Employment Specialists during the school day (students must have permission from a teacher or a counselor) and can set up an appointment by stopping by the Career Center at the above times.

SCAYD Career Services available to all students include:

  • Local Job Listings and Job Applications are provided to students as well as guidance on applicable Child Labor Laws and requirements for work permits.

  • Pre-Employment Advising and Guidance consists of providing students with career resources and job search tools and strategies, including our internet-based Pathfinder tutoring and instruction program. Staff is available to answer students' questions with work applications, resume development, and interview skills, as well as provide career interest inventories. Staff will also provide students with current labor market information, e.g., current hiring practices, growing industries and workforce skills trends.

  • SCAYD employment staff is available to advise and refer students to Community Service opportunities, as well as to advise regarding how these opportunities can be used for the student's career and workforce development purposes.

  • A wide variety of career development and work-readiness resources are available for students to view including videos, books, and software programs.

  • Pathfinder Orientations are offered once a month on the last Thursday of the month. Pathfinder is an internet-based job board in Sonoma County for all youth ages 14-21. Pathfinder offers: Paid Employment Listings, Community Service Opportunities, Job Shadows, and Training Listings. Students attend an orientation, which covers resumes, interviewing, master applications, and work maturity skills. Students must sign up ahead of time to attend this orientation.
